Free State reprimands former MEC
The Free State provincial government has condemned statements by former member of the executive council (MEC) of economic development in the province Mxolisi Dukwana implicating former premier and ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule in state capture by the Gupta family.
Dukwana alleged that former Free State premier Magashule was part of a deal where Tony Gupta offered him R2 million a year to allow the family to gain control of a project in the Lejweleputswa district, said to be worth over R40 billion.
In a statement issued yesterday the Free State director-general, Kopung Ralikontsane, urged Dukwana to allow court processes to be concluded before making public statements on the matter.
Ralikontsane’s comments come on the back of those made by the ANC Youth League, which allege that Dukwana is still bitter after his dismissal as MEC by Magashule in 2012 and his subsequent rejection by party branches in the province.
Last month, Dukwana filed an application for an Anton Piller order, which is a court order that provides the right to search premises and seize evidence without prior warning.
The application was granted and the sheriff went to the offices of Free State premier Sisi Ntombela and current MEC for economic development Limakatso Mahasa.
However, none of the documents Dukwana was after could be found.
In his statement, Ralikontsane confirmed the Anton Piller order, which is under the jurisdiction of the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein, between Dukwana, Ntombela and Mahasa.
“We would like to reiterate that it is in the interest of all South Africans, including the Free State provincial government and its leadership, for any citizen with credible information to avail that information for the assistance of the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture or any commission established in terms of the constitution,” said Ralikontsane. – OFM News
