CSI ACTIVITIES: PENSIONERS INVITED TO DAY OUT AT EMERALD RESORT

-

Old folk had breakfast and lunch and enjoyed aerobics, rugby throw and music.

This year, in celebration of the Nelson Mandela Centenary, Emerald Resort and Casino has created a series of CSI activities. During the latest, pensioners were invited for a day out while team members listened to the wisdom that only age can bring.

“To kick off our CSI initiatives for 2018, our Emerald team members started out knitting scarves for the underprivileged in our winter project and on Mandela Day, we hosted orphans for a day out at Animal World.

“This initiative has continued into the spring months with the team hosting pensioners to experience the resort,” said Emerald Resort and Casino’s marketing executive Tanuja Gangabishun.

As part of the celebrations, residents from Ikageng Old Age Relief Centre, Tshepiso Old Age Home, Evaton Old Age Disability Child And Family Welfare Society and Sebokeng Old Age Home were invited for breakfast and lunch and enjoyed aerobics, rugby throw and music.

“Team members were invited to come and join in the fun while we got learn a thing or two from our elders about life in general,” says Tanuja.

Some spoke about the good old days, others enjoyed the outdoors by demonstrating how fit they still are with a bit of aerobics while others delighted in the warm waters of Aquadome.

Maybe Miriam Makeba said it best – “age is getting to know all the ways the world turns, so that if you cannot turn the world the way you want, you can at least get out of the way so you won’t get run over”.

These pensioners certainly knew how to move as they celebrated with song and dance.

Emerald Resort and Casino’s resort director Mark Hands added: “We loved hosting the older folk here, listening to their stories and the pearls of wisdom that they imparted.

“We have all chosen to make a difference in this world and in particular this wonderful Vaal community. This initiative has really been embraced by everyone at the resort and we all look forward to the next one.” – Citizen reporter
