Marcus to repay his followers
Top-flight jockey Anton Marcus had a disappointing day at Greyville on Wednesday but it could be pay-back time for his fans tonight at the Polytrack where he has a strong book of rides.
He is unlikely to miss in Race 1 when teamed up with Brett Crawford-trained Lady Wisteria in a 1000m Maiden Plate (F&M). This mare returned from a nosebleed suspension with two encouraging runs in barrier trials, the last of which was a short-head second place. She should go one better with Marcus up for the first time.
Trainer Alistair Gordon has called on Marcus for three-year-old Good Rhythm who contests Race 2 over 1400m. The gelding should crack a maiden win this time after having finished second in both his runs.
Crawford-trained maiden Elusive Diva (Marcus) looks a standout bet in Race 3. The combination was touched off last time and should go one better.
Marcus will be tough to beat in Race 7 when aboard Sean Tarry-trained Fieldmarshal Fenix, as well as in Race 8 when partnering Glen Kotzen-trained Cherry Pop.
