Mbombela United striker Muziwokuthula Zimu has admitted he respects and somehow likes Jomo Cosmos but said all that will be set aside – at least for 90 minutes – as he seeks to help his side get back to winning ways.

Tingwenyama host Ezenkosi at kaNyamazane Stadium outside Nelspruit at 3.30pm this afternoon in a National First Division (NFD) match set to be a tough encounter.

Zimu has not been impressed with their start despite the team trailing leaders Stellenbosch by four points after three wins, three draws and two defeats which puts them in eighth position with 12 points.

“It is not that bad. But we have to start being consistent and collecting full points if we are to live up to the expectations the club has set,” Zimu told the Saturday Citizen.

The 28-year-old former Black Leopards attacker recently opened his scoring account at Tingwenyana and he said he wants to add many more because that is his specialty in the team.

“I am happy that I have started scoring because that is what I came here for,” he said. “It is what I get paid to do. I want to do well so that I can grow and help the team grow as well. Goals are what will lift the team and help us achieve our goals,” he said.

The Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal-born striker said he hopes to add to his tally when they play Cosmos this afternoon although he is aware how stubborn Jomo Sono’s teams can be, especially at the back.
