SA’s Conrad 14th in Valencia race
National marathon champion Nolene Conrad produced a solid performance yesterday, taking 14th place in the women’s contest at the Valencia Half-Marathon in Spain.
Conrad finished 14th in 1:13:44, two minutes outside her personal best, with Gelete Burka of Ethiopia winning the race in 1:06:11.
Abraham Kiptum of Kenya set a world record of 58:19 to win the men’s battle, taking five seconds off the mark held by Eritrean Zersenay Tadese which had stood for more than eight years. – Wesley Botton
