By the time you read this, the race for victory in Phakaaathi’s Private Fantasy League for October will be over, and one lucky reader will have won themselves a Chiro master queen base set worth R6 000.

Unfortunately at the time of going to print, we were unable to know the winner, because there was one English Premier League match left, Tottenham Hotspur’s home game against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.

Leading the way heading into last night’s game was Ridhwaan Mayet and his Kroos Control side, who picked up a pretty impressive 72 Fantasy Premier League points on Saturday and Sunday. Mayet did well to captain Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, which earned him 30 points, after the Senegalese striker scored twice in Liverpool’s 4-1 win at home to Cardiff. A good scorer for Kroos Control was also Roberto Pereyra of Watford, who scored as the Hornets won easily at home to Huddersfield.

Mayet also had Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero in his side for last night’s game, giving him an excellent chance at grabbing yet more points and making him a clear favourite to win the October prize.

Elsewhere, Mahomed Essop Omar and his Backup Boys side were second in the October league heading into last night’s game, partly courtesy of Omar dropping his triple captain chip on Mohamed Salah, whose goal and two assists got him 15 FPL points, tripled to 45 points for Omar’s side.

Callum Wilson, who scored twice for Bournemouth this weekend at Fulham, also got 13 points for Omar’s team. Omar also had the possibility of picking up more points last night, with City defender Aymeric Laporte in his team, though he needed to pick up 13 points on Kroos Kontrol.

A point behind Backup Boys was Risima Mushwama and his NitaFC side. Mushwama also played his triple captain, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang getting him 24 points, while he had Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier and City’s Sergio Aguero in last night’s game.
