The Citizen (Gauteng)

Rainbow nation now bit tarnished

-

This must one of the most beautiful countries in the world with beautiful landscapes, lovely weather, sunshine, national parks and mountains.

The picture of corruption, looting, no respect of other lives and property the past few years, with political interferences, has smeared and tarnished the country’s rainbow image.

The VBS bank saga, the Guptas and state capture, the looting of SOEs and the 249 councils mismanagement, the high crime rate, drug abuse, poor service in hospitals and bad service deliveries by municipalities has made life and economics harder and a bitter pill to swallow.

The leading parties – and not forgetting the poor displays of politics and the manner of differences being solved by the opposition parties – leave a bad taste of how they do things for the betterment of its citizens.

The people of SA are worse off financially, socially and even stress-wise with the rand, the petrol price hike and the high prices on basic foodstuff.

The lives of the poor – and most people – are worse than it was before 2010.

The power mongers are biting at the red apples for the 2019 elections with winner-takes-all mindsets at all cost to be the leading party with majorities.

Political parties’ promises before elections are lies. Read what they all said through slogans from the 2009 general and local elections. Nothing good or better was done. We are worse off.

The country is being steered wrongly by bad drivers. There are too many task teams, bloated and unproductive civil servants – from parliament down to municipalities. More people are employed, but less is produced.
