Viewing nudes in the nude

-

A museum in Colombia, dedicated to a local painter known for his nude paintings, has specially opened its doors to nudists, who during the weekend were able to admire these works of art without having to wear a single garment.

The house-museum of the Colombian painter Pedro Nel Gomez, located in Medellin (northwest), the second largest city, has hosted nearly sixty bare visitors who also benefitted from a guided tour.

“The objective of this activity is artistic and also related to the development of the human being in relation to the freedom to live naked,” said Rafael Sandoval, communication officer of the Nudist Community Otro Cuento, initiator of the experiment.

As part of its exhibition The naked, manifest and freedom, the museum presents during the next months 120 works of the Colombian painter who died on June 6, 1984 in Medellin.

“I knew some of Pedro Nel’s works, but I did not know that there were so many nudes. It was amazing to be naked among so many nudes,” said Ana Castañeda, 30, who discovered “the wonderful world of nudism” 18 months ago.

According to Sandoval, it was exceptional because, although “similar experiences” took place in Paris and Vienna, they were open to both dressed and nudist visitors”.

“It is likely to repeat itself, but it depends on the museum,” he said. –
