Sapo can’t be trusted with grants

-

Ihave been waiting more than four months now for a small parcel from the United Kingdom. It landed at the Joburg depot on July 8. It was scanned into the SA system about a month ago but the last time I checked, it was still in Joburg.

No one can assure me that my parcel has not been stolen in the meantime and I have no idea if I will ever receive it.

Receiving and delivering parcels and mail is the SA Post Office’s core business.

If it cannot get even this simple thing right, how can it be trusted with the payment of billions in grants?

Numerous courier services have started to get around the problems caused by Sapo’s incompetence. Great for entrepreneurs but bad for South Africa in the short term.

How long before Sapo’s incompetence and current financial problems exacerbate into looting of the grant monies to stay liquid. Makes you think, I hope. Makes you wonder where to put your cross in the next election.
