1. FAMOUS FACES

Fourteen of the 16 celebritie­s representi­ng horses in the Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile at Turffontei­n are pictured with Peermont’s Nigel Atherton, far left, and Bob Yearham, far right.

2. R75 000 BOON

Footballer Aaron Mokoena represente­d Arctica, who finished fourth in the Charity Mile and earned the Thembimfun­do Primary after-care centre R75 000. Each horse in the field races for a different charity.

3. MUZI MAGIC

Jockey Muzi Yeni celebrates after winning the Charity Mile aboard Coral Fever. The Robbie Sage-trained gelding won his charity, Khangezile Primary after-care centre, a whopping R150 000.

4. ULTRA GLAMOROUS

7de Laan actress Hildegardt Whites looks spectacula­r at Turffontei­n on Saturday. She was the public face of unplaced Romany Prince. A total of R1 million is paid to the 16 charities and all take home at least R50 000.

5. BIG WINNER

Film and TV actor Pallance Dladla, affiliated with Charity Mile hero Coral Fever, recieves a R150 000 cheque on behalf of the winning charity, Peermont-nominated Khangezile Primary after-care centre.

6. CLOSE CALL

Three horses cross the line almost as one in the R1-million Charity Mile, but the judges gave the nod to Coral Fever, closest to the camera, from Tilbury Fort, yellow, by a hair’s breadth, with Doosra, totally obscured, third.
