De Lille the winner – DA the loser

-

The saga of the Patricia de Lille fight against the DA is about to produce its final episode. The way the party handled this is ridiculous. The declared armistice when the two kissed and made up, was nothing more than a stalling tactic by the shrewd De Lille, pictured – and now she revealed her true intentions.

The party leadership proved naive in accepting the truce; the charges of malfeasance seemed credible and, if proven true, would have damaged her image and put the matter to rest.

She now emerges as a victim and will surely join those discontented members who resigned with great fanfare, reducing the strength of a party that has performed so well in bringing stability to the Western Cape metropolitan areas.

The sordid matter brings into question the leadership capacity of Mmusi Maimane and his ability to regain lost ground. Time is not in the party’s hands. Ted O’Connor
