On Thursday, Red Bull Music hosted the SA National Finals of the World 3Style Championships at The Warehouse in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

The six South African finalists went head-to-head to book their spot in the world finals taking place in Taipei, Taiwan, in January 2019.

The event was definitely a night to remember with Captain Cleo opening with a stellar set that had the crowds on their feet and ready for the night ahead of musical excellence and turntable tactics.

The entertainment didn’t fall short either as there were performances from Eskei83, DJ Hedspin, Aewon Wolf, ByLwansta, and many other talented competitors.

The competition kicked off at 10pm with the finalists flaunting their skills and doing their best to one up the other. The competition rules were simple, each DJ had 15 minutes to #PlayWithMusic and showcase at least three different music genres.

Their task, on the other hand, was much more difficult. They had to prove their ability to get a party hot while impressing the panel of legendary and experienced judges with their mixing, music selection and crowd-pleasing skills to ultimately come out on top.

The winner of the night, Ameeth Shah, pictured, was an all-round crowd-pleaser despite the tough competition. Shah ensured that he used all the right tricks to keep the judges hooked on his acquired selection taste.

“All the finalists brought their A-game to the National Finals and totally blew our socks off. I knew the competition would be firece but they exceeded my expectations. I can’t wait to see who will be crowned the world champion of Red Bull Music 3Style,” said Eskei83 from Dresden in Germany, who won the world final in 2014 and had the pleasure of being a judge. –
