Alfred Richardson to follow up at Gosforth

-

– Alfred Richardson did it very easily on his latest visit to Newcastle and must have every chance of following up today on his return to Gosforth Park.

Since opening his account for the year at Wetherby in June, this John Davies-trained four-year-old has run some fine races in defeat, most notably finishing third in the lucrative final of the StraightMile Series at Redcar.

Switching back to the allweather for the first time since March 2017 a shade over three weeks ago, Alfred Richardson was held up towards the rear of the field after a tardy start, but sliced

London

through the field before pulling clear without being asked for maximum effort.

The handicapper has handed him a 3.5kg rise in the weights but with just three all-weather runs under his belt, he is very much unexposed, and the sunracing.co.uk Handicap looks a good opportunity for him to add to his tally.

Arms Of The Angel might be able to make it third time lucky in the Ladbrokes Home Of Odds Boost Novice Auction Stakes.

This daughter of Jukebox Jury caught the eye making significant late headway after blowing the start on her debut here a month ago. It is testament to her ability that in the end she was beaten only a length into third place.

It was a similar story on her second start at Bath, where she again got off to a slow start before boxing on to finish fifth.

She is clearly no star - but this race will not take much winning, and if she can break on terms she looks sure to make her presence felt.

Twilight has enjoyed a fine season on turf and can continue her excellent run of form in the Ladbrokes Home Of The Odds Boost Fillies' Handicap.

Tim Easterby's filly was rated just 50 when opening her account at Catterick in early August. But subsequent triumphs at Leicester, Hamilton and then back at

Leicester again have seen her climb to a mark of 73.

She is 1.5kg lower on the allweather - and while she was disappointing here in early September, that effort is easily forgiven because it came just three days after the first of her Leicester wins.

Twilight comes into her latest assignment suitably fresh after a month off the track, and should prove hard to beat.- Press Association
