Bali releases first of Oz drug mules

Melbourne – The first of a group of nine Australians convicted for trying to smuggle heroin out of Indonesia in 2005 will be released from a Bali jail later this month, Australia’s national broadcaster reported yesterday.

Renae Lawrence, 41, was originally sentenced to life for her role in the drug-trafficking syndicate but that sentence was later cut to 20 years. She is due for release from prison on November 21.–
