Court approves winding up VBS

An SA court yesterday approved an application by the central bank to wind up VBS Mutual Bank.

A report commissioned by the Reserve Bank found that at least R1.9 billion had been looted from VBS and that its financial statements had been misstated.

The regulator then placed the small lender under curatorship. – Reuters
