Part Exchange looks a bargain for Kempton punters

-

– Part Exchange has had just a handful of outings to date but can double her winning tally today in the 32Red Handicap at Kempton.

A six-length winner on her racecourse debut last September, Hugo Palmer then tried her in a fair fillies' handicap at Lingfield in the November and Part Exchange's run was really too bad to be true.

Sent off an odds-on favourite, she was in trouble some way out and eventually trailed home over 12 lengths adrift.

She was then not sighted again until July, but showed up well that day at Wolverhampton, although she has again been off the track since and is perhaps not the easiest filly to train.

However, it speaks volumes that connections are persisting and this step up to 2400m looks

well within her compass.

Merlin can build on a promising return in the 32Red.com Handicap.

He won three times for Michael Bell last year, but has been limited to just one outing this term, finishing down the field in a competitive race at Ripon in September.

While being beaten nearly eight lengths might not sound promising, Merlin tried to make every metre and eventually just ran out of gas.

Bell has not hurried him back into action, which certainly could be in his favour, and given he lines up off a reduced mark of 92, Merlin merits close inspection.

Fume can open his account as he returns from a gelding operation in the 32Red On The App Store Nursery Handicap.

Out of luck in four starts so far, this son of Frankel has raced keenly in the past and the application of blinkers last time out did not appear to help that much.

The headgear is off again now and it is too early to write him off.

Lady Adelaide looks a winner in waiting in the first division of the 32Red Casino EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes after just being edged out on her first attempt.

She was beaten a neck at Newbury, despite running green, and natural improvement should be enough.

Maria's Benefit takes a swift step up in class as she bids for Listed honours at Bangor in the Canter Carpet Mares' Novices' Chase.

A classy hurdler for Stuart Edmunds, it was no surprise to see her make a seamless transition to fences at Newton Abbot, beating a couple of decent rivals in the process.

This six-year-old was a ninelength victor and another performance like that would be good enough.

Barney Dwan is the pick in the other feature, the Anne Duchess Of Westminster Memorial Handicap Kempton (UK) Wed Race 1 @ 18:30 Chase.

He posted a reasonable fifth on his return to action over an inadequate trip and can make the most of a return to 4800m.

Coastal Drift counts the admirable Bob Bob Bobbin and Absalom's Lady among his relatives and will surely thrive as he tackles obstacles in the 188Bet Mobile Bet10 Get10 Novices' Hurdle at Exeter.

Well beaten on his sole bumper run back in January, he did not enjoy a clear passage and it is perhaps best to put a line through that run ahead of embarking on this new discipline.

Donald McCain's Birch Vale signed off in fine winning form in May and is on a decent mark to strike again on her return in the Ayr Racecourse Gift Vouchers Available Now Mares' Handicap Hurdle at the Scottish venue. –
