As I am 190km away from you, the Rea Vaya bus lane in no way affects me. What does bother me though is the “ex-top Metro cop”, Wayne Minnaar, knows all too well about those hiccups your

Motoring readers experience on a daily basis but does sweet blow-all except appear on TV & radio regularly, blaming the rain for accidents occurring whenever you guys get your Highveld storms. I cannot wait for him to one day come up with... “You know, that island in the middle of Ontdekkers Road is to blame for those accidents and especially more so when it rains.”

With reference to “Goldstuck on Gadgets” (07/11/2018). While an electric car may itself have zero CO2 emissions the electrical power it requires for charging may well have. Much of the world’s energy ... is derived from fossel fuels. So the vehicle indirectly does result in significant CO2 emission. But as the power stations supplying the energy operate at double the efficiency of car engines it would halve the emissions. And move them from urban areas to the more rural sites generally used. And release the emissions into the atmosphere at a greater height than a vehicles exhaust. And in the grid-locked traffic situations many city motorists drive in they only use energy when moving, unlike internal combustion engines which run continuously. Finally some electric vehicles will use regenerative braking, further reducing their energy consumption. All this would result in cities with much less air pollution from vehicles. A strong case for moving in that direction, but definitely not zero CO2 emission overall.
