Klaasen fails to get spot in playoffs

-

While singles ace Kevin Anderson had romped into the semifinals at the prestigious ATP Tour Finals, doubles specialist Raven Klaasen was unable to join his compatriot in the playoffs in London after being knocked out last night.

Klaasen and partner Michael Venus of New Zealand fell in a 3-6 6-7 defeat to the Colombian pairing of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah.

Having picked up one win from their three group matches, Klaasen and Venus were eliminated, denying the South African a spot in the playoffs for the second time in three years.

Anderson, meanwhile, was set to face Swiss star Roger Federer in his final match of the group stages later last night. He had already qualified for the penultimate round of the season-ending tournament earlier this week. – Wesley
