Boks suffer from poor leadership

-

Congratulations, Springboks, for just managing to win a very mediocre game when compared to the other internationals played. A really poor performance by Faf de Klerk, pictured, and Willie le Roux. Le Roux seemed to be in a somnambulist trance and who on earth told De Klerk to keep on kicking away much needed possession? You can’t play if you don’t have the ball. Why did the captain or the coach not stop the aimless kicking? Poor leadership. The two wings were almost irrelevant and the obsession with Damian de Allende, who very rarely has a good game, needs a rethink. Jesse Kriel tried his best. Siya Kolisi was disappointing.

We desperately need a robust, go-forward, no-nonsense flank in the mould of Australia’s David Pocock. There was no flow from Flo (Francois Louw), and I still say that Duane Vermeulen must be rotated with Warren WhitePrasa

ley. Malcolm Marx must be given a rest with Bongi Mbonambi, starting against Scotland today.

Pieter-Steph du Toit once again outstanding and ably assisted by Franco Mostert.

Handre Pollard reliable but not very inventive. Elton Jantjies

must lose at least 6kg.

There is just something lacking in this Springbok side. Very little inspiration, variation, innovation, tactics and the reading of the game.

Good luck for Saturday. John
