Honest civil servants need to see a shrink
Psychological interventions must be supplied to honest civil servants, writes Peter Bachtis
The actions of some civil servants, who have acted without conscience and wilfully defrauded state entities, have negatively affected so many within the civil service, who are law-abiding and have a strong work ethic.
The pressure on these law-abiders is intense as the microscopic scrutiny envelopes every aspect of state machinery.
The psychological after-effects will leave these staffers traumatised and emotionally scarred, as the consensus of opinion is that all civil servants are crooked.
Intense help through psychological interventions must be supplied to so many honest people who carry the can within the civil service.
This should be part of Cyril Ramaphosa’s clean up operation, as he separates the good from the bad.
