With Germany now relegated from League A Group 1 of the Uefa Nations League, all Joachim Loew’s men are left to play for is the pride of the badge that has lifted football’s greatest prize – the Fifa World Cup – on four occasions.

The Germans will tonight look to go out with a bang when they host a resurgent Netherlands. Germany are at the bottom of their group with just one point to show from three games and they have not won a single official match since their 2-1 win over Sweden in the recent World Cup in Russia.

Germany lost 3-0 to the Dutch in the reverse fixture in October, and Ronald Koeman’s side are having a good run of form and are oozing confidence after they became the first side to defeat reigning world champions France after Les Bleus’ triumph in Russia.

The Dutch beat Didier Deschamps’ troops 2-0 in Rotterdam this past Friday, and with Germany slipping and the Netherlands on top of the world, it is hard to see how they would manage to defeat Ronald Koeman’s men. Therefore I predict Germany will lose in their own backyard. Pool code: S6 V2 P2 M1: Bulgaria v Slovenia. All points for hosts. Tip: Bulgaria = 1. M2: Cyprus v Norway. Victory for visitors.
