Peter Wrensch has first runner

-

After only receiving his training licence last Thursday, Peter Wrensch hasn’t wasted any time.

On Friday he nominated Troop The Colour in the MR 80 over 2400m to be run this Saturday at Kenilworth, and accepted on Monday with Anthony Andrews up.

Of course this path was shaped by sadness, as Peter worked with veteran trainer Ronnie Sheehan who sadly passed away on 27 October.

“Ronnie was very keen for me to continue, and all eight of the horses we had have stayed on. The transition has been relatively smooth, as of course all the owners know me very well,” said the vastly experienced horseman.

As for the chances of a debut winner, he was cautiously optimistic.

“Troop The Colour should be very competitive with 52.5kg. Anthony has done well on him before, and 2400m seems to be his best trip, so he has to have an Eachway chance,” said Wrensch. –
