JP heads for Singapore

South African jockey JP van der Merwe has been granted a licence to ride in Singapore. The Singapore Turf Club has given Van der Merwe an expat’s licence to ride on their tracks between 1 January and 31 December 2019.

Van der Merwe, 28, has spent the last season in Mauritius, where he has ridden 18 winners but recently ended his relationship with the Gujadur stable. He occupies fourth spot on the table behind leader Robbie Fradd.
