Inflation rises in October
Consumer inflation rose to 5.1% in October, in line with the consensus forecast, from 4.9%. It is likely to rise off a lower base in early 2019, hurt mainly by a volatile rand and higher electricity tariffs.
However, it won’t breach the Reserve Bank’s 6% upper target range over the next two years, provided there are no big domestic surprises. – Nedbank Group Economic Unit
