Take Nova Vocal to sing the odds

- Larry Foley

– After a boutique Tuesday meeting where Lim’s Cruiser showed why he is the best sprinter in Singapore by some lengths, a standalone Polytrack meeting today promises to produce some highlights of its own.

Race 7 on the card - a Class 3 Polytrack dash over 1100m - is easily the best race on offer given it pits together two smart last start winners in Nova Vocal and Jomo.

Nova Vocal will most likely start favourite given this four-year-old gave some handy Class 3 sprinters a lesson on this track and at this trip when winning from go-to-whoa in a very slick time.

He jumped from a wide gate on that occasion so connections and punters alike will be confident he can carry the extra 4kg and win again after drawing the ace. But Jomo could be special. This four-year-old weighed in at some 636kg on debut when winning easily on the Polytrack over 1000m after doing his work from a wide gate.

He backed that up effort with a win over 1200m on the turf at start two and while drawn badly here and up in grade, there is no reason why he can’t eyeball Nova Vocal and make this a race to the wire.

It’s never a two-horse race, so Sun Dream, resuming, can be considered and given the punter support for Nova Vocal and Jomo, will be great value.

Best Bets: (Nationality Race 5, Win), (Jomo/Nova Vocal Race 7, Eachway) and (The Golden Goat Race 4, value).

Jackpot: Race 5 (1, 5, 7 and 13), Race 6 (3, 6 and 10), Race 7 (4 and 6), Race 8 (1, 3 and 6).
