Man, 60, jailed for rape of teenager

The Winburg Regional Court in Free State has sentenced Ntima Joseph Maqelepo, 60, to 20 years behind bars, of which 11 were suspended, for raping his 14-year-old neighbour.

Captain Malebo Khosana said the teenager was raped on two separate occasions in May this year. “The victim said that on May 12, she went to Maqelepo’s house to ask him to accompany her to her school after she was sexually assaulted by a former classmate. Instead, he called her to his room and raped her. Eight days later he raped her again.”

The girl told a friend at school who reported it to the principal. The police arrested Maqelepo. – ANA
