Q The Music looks up to the Summer challenge

IS A FOUR-TIME WINNER COMING OFF A CLEAR-CUT 1400M WIN

- Viv Greybe

Paths Of Victory going for a hat-trick.

Sunday’s meeting at Scottsville will feature three highly competitive Non-Black Type contests. However, trainer Andre Nel has a bright chance to claim honours in the first one with five-year-old Q The Music (Gareth Wright) who lines up in Race 6, the 1600m KZN Summer Challenge 1600 Final.

This four-time winner – all with Wright aboard – comes off a clearcut win over 1400m at Scottsville. The consistent five-year-old will relish the extra distance, and having a good draw in this big field he should complete the double.

Race 7, the 1950m KZN Summer Challenge 2000 Final, should see Gareth van Zyl-trained progressive Paths Of Victory (Warren Kennedy) complete a hat-trick. This three-year-old’s last win was indeed impressive, as it was his first outing after being gelded and he scored by an increasing 3.75 lengths over 2000m.

Kennedy could also strike in Race 8 when teamed up with Duncan Howells-trained Buffalo Soldier in the 1200m KZN Summer Challenge 1200 Final.
