Fransie off the mark in Korea

-

It hasn’t taken globetrotting Fransie Herholdt long to get his feet under the table since taking up a riding contract in South Korea.

The highly experienced lightweight had already scored three seconds, and got off the mark at the 19th attempt in Race 4 Friday at Busan.

Jeonsaui Jilju was the horse’s name – not one that rolls off the western tongue.

Herholdt went off favourite in the 1300m event, and entered the 500m straight third a couple off lengths off them. He had to work hard all the way up the stretch before getting the upper hand late to win by a length.

Fittingly the victory was for former KZN based trainer Bart Rice, who played a part in getting Fransie to the east, and has been his main supporter in the training ranks so far.

It didn’t take long for number two to arrive either as Herholdt guided Queen Of Captain to victory in Race 7, completing a nice double on the day.
