The Citizen (Gauteng)

It would generally be perceived as football fantasy if one were to say Watford will make history and become the first team this season to beat high-flying Manchester City.

However, stranger things have happened, and the unpredictability of the game makes it hard for certainty to exist in football.

Ordinarily, Watford supporters will be hoping City do not embarrass their team with a big defeat, but they will be urging their side to punch above their weight and try and upset City.

Watford will – like they always do – give their best performance but it would be fantasy to even think they could be the first side to derail Pep Guardiola’s welloiled machine which has left teams in awe wherever they have gone this season.

The Hornets have not won since their 3-0 win against Huddersfield on October 18 and their winless streak will continue when they host City at Vicarage Road tonight. The odds are stacked against Javi Gracia’s side.

City are already looking clear favourites to retain their league title, though Liverpool are pushing them hard at the moment, but I expect them to get another routine win tonight.
