ANC fires seven mayors

The ANC in North West has fired seven mayors – including four who are involved in the VBS Mutual Bank investment debacle – the provincial task team (PTT) said yesterday.

PTT spokesperson Kabelo Mataboge said mayors Bitsa Lenkopane (of Kagisano-Molopo); Aaron Motswana (Mamusa); and Victoria Noni Kgabi (Maquassie-Hills) were recalled in a bid to “improve efficient service delivery and restoring public confidence in the ANC”.

Other mayors Jostina Mothibe (of Madibeng); Andries Monaheng (Moretele); Betty Diakanyo (Mahikeng); and Boitumelo Mahlangu (Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati) were recalled with immediate effect following the investment of a combined R314 million in the VBS Bank scandal. – ANA
