Spy warning ‘surprises’ Huawei

Chinese telecom giant Huawei said yesterday it was “surprised and disappointed” after a senior European Union official warned Beijing’s intelligence services might gain access to its phones.

“We categorically reject any allegation that we might pose a security threat,” Huawei declared.

European Commission vice-president Andrus Ansip made the remarks. – Reuters
