DA wants explanation of power crisis

-

It’s time for Eskom to put its cards on the table about the power crisis, the Democratic Alliance (DA) said yesterday.

Reports about the cause were conflicting and Eskom needed to provide clarity during these “very dark days”, DA spokesperson Natasha Mazzone said.

“There are many reasons for the power failures South Africans are now enduring, ranging from state capture and lack of coal, to allegations of irregular tenders and Eskom’s use of companies that are unable to provide the services it so desperately needs,” she said.

“The DA calls on Eskom to provide a list of all the companies it has taken action against regarding incorrect tender processes and if it has applied for urgent interdicts to end contracts that result in coal shortages.

“Eskom is in a state of complete collapse and the only thing that can save it is if the entire structure changes.” – ANA
