Ernst was safety net

A source in the Kaizer Chiefs camp has revealed to Phakaaathi that talks to bring Ernst Middendorp (below) back to the club started a couple of months ago after they noticed that Italian Giovanni Solinas was struggling. According to the source, the club realised that Solinas was never going to fix the problems at the club despite the acquisition of a lot of good players to help him. “It was coming for him, it was just a matter of doing it a right time because the club started communicating with him a long time ago. Middendorp was not the only ex-Chiefs coach considered for the job, there were other former coaches they were looking into, but things didn’t go well. But they believe he will help the team get to back its best,” said the source.
