Baroka FC made history last Saturday with their surprise victory over Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Knockout final, a first-ever trophy for the club who were only promoted to the Absa Premiership in 2016.
There were many heroes on the night and through the campaign, but few played a larger role than the club’s 23-year-old captain Mduduzi Mdantsane.
When cool heads were needed, he was a leader on the pitch and aside from his industrious work in the midfield, he converted two crucial penalties - one in ordinary time and the other in the post-match shoot-out.
He has been a key performer for the team all season and perhaps does not get the credit his play deserves.
