Makeover magic in motion

WATCH PEOPLE BEING TOTALLY TRANSFORMED BY COSMETIC SURGERY

- Hayden Horner

The lastest procedures deliver astounding results in this day and age.

What is it about makeover shows that are so fascinating? Whether we’re watching Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition or Style by Jury, there’s just something incredibly satisfying in following a before-and-after process. And our fascination is piqued even more when it’s the surgical makeover of an individual.

Be honest now: how many of you have looked in the mirror and wondered how you’d look with slightly straighter or whiter teeth, plumper lips or fewer wrinkles, but you don’t actually have the nerve to go through with it? After all, we’ve seen the evidence of botched procedures – lest we forget Donatella Versace, Kenny Rogers and Joan Rivers.

But, in all fairness, the actual science of cosmetic surgery has come a long way since it was introduced all those years ago and the results of the latest procedures are astounding.

Don’t believe us? Then you are definitely going to watch Wraak My Mooi, which is currently on DStv channel 147.

In the tradition of all great beauty makeover shows, it brings all the drama, no-holds-barred and sometimes hilarious exploration of hope, family, society and self into your living room.

Watch in amazement over a number of episodes as 13 carefully selected local participants from different backgrounds are granted the opportunity of a lifetime to be made over by some of the country’s leading cosmetic surgeons and experts. If you followed Revenge Makeover SA, that awesome Facebook and YouTube series by The Cosmetic and Dental Emporium about a year or so ago, then you’ll immediately recognise some of the experts, including the ohso-dreamy Dr Zak Schabort, founder of the makeover series and The Cosmetic and Dental Emporium.

The show’s producer, Nicole Bailey, from Wolf Baby Productions, said after viewing The Cosmetic and Dental Emporium’s online series she was intrigued and wanted to know more about the contestants and the process behind each of the makeovers. And so Wraak My Mooi came into being.

With over 500 entries received from around the country, each with personal videos sharing their story and a motivation for why they should be selected as one of the lucky makeover win- ners, the expert panel had the gruelling task of narrowing it down to only 13 contestants.

The first three contestants have already had their makeovers and, if you are not already watching Wraak My Mooi, the transformations are mindblowing and show just how advanced and results-driven the procedures and the medical team are.

“The show is all about the art of giving.

“It is our dream to bring out that special and magical feeling in people to enable them to shine again – so that they can believe in themselves in a world where confidence is so important,” said Dr Schabort.

If you love fairytale endings, then tune in every Wednesday at 19.30 to DStv channel 147 for Wraak My Mooi and follow the amazing transformations of the remaining contestants.
