Newcomers could make Singapore an Elite Conquest

– After flood of racing during the Chinese New Year, racing in Singapore gets back to some sort of normality with a very good Friday meeting followed by another great card on Sunday.

And as has been the case in recent times, some raced newcomers to Singapore could come to the fore early in their new careers.

The former Japanese galloper, Mikki Joy, showed last Friday that a sighter is all some of these classy newcomers

need to win in Singapore and Circuit Mission will be hoping to do much the same in Race 5 today..

This four-year-old Irish-bred gelding had all sorts of excuses when running an eye-catching fourth at his local debut.

The step up to 1400m looks ideal and he will be hard to hold out if close enough when things get serious on the Short Course.

A rare US-bred former Canadian runner named Elite Conquest is the most interestin­g runner on the card.

This five-time winner makes his local debut in the last race and while Canadian form might be hard to line up against some local Class 4 form, his trials since arriving suggest he goes better than most here and he wins without surprising.
