Madam Speaker to have the edge

- Viv Greybe

Meeting her opposition at level weights, Alan Greeff-trained sixtime winner Madame Speaker appears the one to beat at Fairview today when teamed up with Greg Cheyne again and contesting Race 7, the Breeders Guineas (Listed) for three-year-old fillies over 1600m.

This Pathfork filly comes off an impressive 6.75-length win in the 1400m Breeders Guineas Plate at this course, but will have most to fear from four-time winner Klever Kathy out of Gavin Smith’s stable with Muzi Yeni up.

This Bold Silvano filly posted a smart 1400m double and was unlucky next time as she clipped heels and finished third over the same distance.

Also in with claims is Cape Town raider Star Fighter (Lyle Hewitson) from Candice BassRobinson’s stable.

She should be in the final call again.

Another worth considering is Glen Kotzen-trained two-time winner Count Dubucks (Louis Mxothwa) who will be bidding for a 1600m hat-trick; and Chakri. Dream Baby Dream has been scratched.

Follow the Greeff-Cheyne combination in Race 3 with Studio Blues who contests a Conditions Plate (F&M) over 1600m.

Stick with this combinaion in Race 4 when teamed up with Ruby Two Shoes in a Maiden Plate (F&M) over 1400m.

This former Cape Town filly comes off a promising first run for Greeff’s stable, running on stoutly from a wide draw and finishing second over 1200m.

With the advantage of the best draw this time, she should go one better over the extra distance. To take a bet Go to www.tabonline.co.za or www.bettingworld.co.za
