Who would want to dress like their favourite celebrity?

Female fashion collaborations are popular but male options are few and far between, which is why when a male local celebrity comes up with a contribution to the market it makes them a force to be reckoned with.

This force is currently actor, singer and now businessperson Anga Makubalo, who is well-known for his TV roles in soapies like Generations, Zbondiwe and Isidingo.

Targeting the fashion-conscious gent, Makubalo recently launched a limited edition winter sneakers range in conjunction with the popular clothing label Soviet.

Speaking about the collaboration, the 32-year-old

said: “I have always been a huge fan of Soviet gear and I’m super proud to be doing a collaboration like this with them … and I hope that the [sneakers] fans love them as much as I do.”

He adds that one has to be in touch with a market in order to develop fashion items that resonate with a particular kind of clientele. That, he says, means more than just knowing what is trending but also wearing your own items and designing something that a designer would be proud to wear.

The limited edition sneakers range comes in a dual colour palette of either red and olive or tan and navy.

“I love this sneaker because it’s simple, nothing over the top and for me, simplicity is everything,” he says. “I love the red and olive. A shoe like this is something I would typically wear with skinny jeans or a pair of cool denim shorts from Soviet.”
