Born To Perform is a natural winner

- Ken Nicol

Born To Perform seems likely to live up to his name today in Race 4 when racing is on the Greyville Polytrack.

This grey Silvano gelding will turn out for a MR 72 Handicap over 1400m, having won his first two starts in impressive style under Warren Kennedy, both on this surface, before being touched off by fellow improver GG’s Dynasty when trying the turf track.

He was fancied to make it three out of four last time, but found plenty of trouble in the running and could only manage fourth behind Sovereign Spirit.

Now Kennedy takes the ride again and from an inside draw this son of champion Dancer’s Daughter is expected to retain his unbeaten record on the Polytrack. He is a very confident selection. The top liner on the card is Race 7, a MR 90 Handicap over 1600m and here another Silvano gelding makes strong appeal in the form of top weight Silva’s Bullet.

Dean Kannemeyer’s charge is highly consistent and won his only previous course and distance appearance.

He was a clear second to useful Gauteng raider American Indian last time out and doesn’t face anything as intimidating as that one this time around. The drop back in trip is also no impediment and Keagan de Melo should guide him to a fourth career win.

The eighth and final event is a wide open FM 64 Handicap over 2000m and here Crystal Ball appears a decent Eachway value bet. She now jumps from a much more favourable gate and a repeat of her last effort would place her squarely in the firing line.
