This weekend, Old Johannesburg Warehouse Auctioneers host yet another memorable auction. It starts at 9am tomorrow. Good furniture (retro, industrial, beautiful Africana, Oriental,French, Victorian), a great selection of silver, exquisite ceramics, clocks, carpets, collectable books, a selection of very rare Edwardian and Victorian architectural fittings and more is on offer.
Of special mention is a rare notebook page autographed by Neil Armstrong.
Some of the most spectacular silver pieces to come onto auction this year include a Russian silver and gold cigarette case with cabochon sapphires, presented to Commander Furlonger by Kronprinz Ferdinand from Romania, and other beautiful Art Nouveau and Victorian silver pieces.
An eclectic selection of traditional and contemporary art (120 lots) is mixed into this session. Works by the likes of Frans Claerhout, Gregoire Boonzaier, Laurence Chait, Zakkie Eloff, Paul duToit, WH Coetzer, Christo Coetzee, Pat Mautloa, Jurgen Schaderberg to name a few, go under the hammer.
On Sunday, “Treasure huntSunday” kicks off at 9am with a trove of items that will keep auction goers busy for hours. The stand-alone jewellery and watch session begins at 1pm with a magnitude of glittering lots.
Many beautiful Victorian, George Jensen, art nouveau, art deco, antique and modern pieces form this line-up. Of special mention: a magnificent platinum ring set with a 2.01ct round brilliant cut diamond.
For the watch collectors: Rolex (submariner and others), Breitling, Cartier, Chopard, Tag Heuer, Omega, and Panerai will
encourage furious bidding.
Also in this session some vintage designer handbags and sunglasses.
