Lady Of Steel to show her mettle
The highly rated filly will attempt to keep her unbeaten record intact when she lines up in Race 6 at the Vaal today.
Lady Of Steel will attempt to keep her unbeaten record intact when she lines up in Race 6 at the Vaal today.
The Johan Janse van Vuurentrained filly has won all four of her starts and takes on males for the first time in this 1450m Allowance Plate.
Based on her merit rating, the three-year-old has her work cut out at the weights. But there appears a lot more to come from this filly, who was most impressive when winning the 1600m Grade 3 Acacia Handicap on 7 March.
She is nicely drawn here, which is a massive advantage as they start on the bend.
The main danger looks to be Riverstown from the Paul Peter yard. This three-year-old son of Byword is one of the best handicapped runners, is well drawn at No 3 and has Piere Strydom in the irons.
Riverstown has raced seven times for two wins and four places, and won the Grand Heritage over 1475m on the straight Vaal course in December.
Trainer Sean Tarry has two very talented runners in Warrior’s Rest and Eden Roc. Preference is for the former. Champion jockey Lyle Hewitson, riding in his first local meeting since returning from Japan, last month, rides Eden Roc.
