Distance suits speedy Singforafa

- Jack Milner

Once again the fillies are weighted to have the edge in a Pinnacle Stakes. Topping today’s Vaal card is Race 8, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1000m.

There are also some top colts involved, including Chimichuri Run and Mr Flood, but the one runner who is well handicapped and is at her best over the distance is Corne Spies-trained Singforafa. She has run four times over the distance for three wins and a 0.20-length second.

Piere Strydom gets on the daughter of Potala Palace for the first time and he is a master at keeping horse together at the head of affairs in sprint races.

Chimichuri Run has been racing in Grade 1 events and was only beaten 1.95 lengths in the Cape Flying Championship over 1000m at Kenilworth on 1 February. So, even in receipt of 6.5kg for Sean Tarry’s charge, it will by no means be an easy task for Singforafa.

As he has regularly done when Chimichuri Run comes out over 1000m, Tarry has declared blinkers for the Trippi colt. Gavin Lerena takes the ride.
