SA must show its disapproval at the ballot box

If we don’t seize the moment, we will have purselves to blame, writes Henry CB from George.

Some good news at last. The Electoral Commission of South Africa is evidently in the throes of preparing for next year’s municipal election. This, despite the coronavirus and its negative impact. Hopefully by that time the problem would have abated and things will be back to normal.

If ever there was a time in South Africa’s history when an election is a vital prerequisite for its future, it’s now.

It is an open window (probably the last for a long while) for the nation at large to show its utter disapproval of the ANC government.

We can no longer allow this thoroughly corrupt and incompetent bunch to rule the roost.

Together with their crooked friends, they have not only emptied the kitty, but made awful, irrational and illogical decisions that are having devastating effects economically and psychologically.

They have left us sick at heart and out of pocket.

Short of a revolution (the signs are scaringly palpable) the only way we can knock the ANC off its perch is through the ballot box.

If we don’t seize the moment, we will have ourselves to blame if we wake up after the count and find the crooks still calling the shots.

This presupposes that the IEC follows through on its promise of making it easier for the majority (including the rural areas) to register and be eligible to cast their vote.

The role of the opposition is also of vital importance – it needs to be more proactive with policies that are practical and sustainable.

Also, solid candidates to fill the gaps left by the ANC, not forgetting the EFF.
