Metro cops must start enforcing by-laws

- Johannesburg Metro Police Department is not enforcing the city’s by- laws, writes Gina B.

We have many laws in Johannesburg, but nothing is being done about enforcing them by the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD). I will list them: 1. Taxis going through red robots, stop streets and stopping at intersections one cannot turn into; 2. Illegal adverts nailed to trees (which damages the trees), on robots, stop signs, any poles;

3. Taxis not sanitising as passengers get into the vehicles;

4. Taxis with none of the passenger windows open; and

5. People walking around without masks.

I feel that all the above need to be attended to urgently, and this is their job. I was promised that Louis Botha Avenue would have JMPD vehicles checking on all the breaches of by-laws.

Well, I have never seen one doing that in all the time I have been driving there. You only see the JMPD at roadblocks and checking speed limits.
