Absa rules out dividends

Absa Group has said it’s unlikely to pay an ordinary dividend this year as it conserves cash to deal with the economic fallout from Covid-19.

Earnings before one-time items and accounting adjustments will probably decline more than 40% from a year ago, it said, although it has strong buffers and forecasts “improved second-half capital generation.”
