DStv’s holiday offerings
For the very first time, M-Net will screen six new local Christmas movies on DStv channel 101 and M-Net Movies 1 (DStv Channel 104).
These feel-good family movies, showcasing breath-taking sceneries across the provinces and cultures in South Africa, show how people celebrate the Christmas season in various communities.
CEO General Entertainment and Connected Video, Yolisa Phahle, says: “Thank Goodness It’s Festive. South Africans can collectively breathe a sigh of relief that it is nearly the end of this uniquely challenging year.
“Finding moments of joy and connecting with family and friends has never been more important as this is a big part of what many of us lost during the various levels of lockdown.”
Leading the line-up is, A Zulu Christmas. This local film tells the story of a spoiled city boy who is in for the shock of his life when he is sent to spend the holidays with his grandmother on her farm.
For many kids, that would be a dream come true, but this one isn’t ready for Granny’s list of daily chores. She’s also a fountain of stories about his heritage and their family’s traditions and, if he listens, he’ll see Christmas in a whole new light
The film stars former Generations star, Deli Malinga. The film is scheduled to premier on Christmas Day on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161) at 8pm.
DStv has festive feats sorted with My Kersfeeskombuis on VIA (DStv Channel 147), Holiday Gingerbread Showdown on Food Network (DStv Channel 175), Celebrity Chef Christmas Specials featuring Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsey and Mary Berry on BBC Lifestyle (DStv Channel 174); Inside the Factory: Inside the Christmas Factory (DStv Channel 184) and Buddy vs Christmas on TLC (DStv Channel 135).
Also on M-Net, audiences can sing along to music specials from Sam Smith, Michael Bublé, Bon Jovi and The Royal Variety Performance.
On kykNet (DStv 144), viewers can enjoy Songs Of Hope: Acoustic From Groote Kerk; André in Worship with André Venter; and Kersfees & Koortjies met Jonathan Rubain on kykNET & kie (DStv Channel 145).
