Pule is a vital part of Bucs’ machinery

Josef Zinnbauer lauded Vincent Pule’s (right) heroics after the forward helped Orlando Pirates get a point in their 2-2 draw with Cape Town City at the Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday.

Bucs trailed twice in the game with Mduduzi Mdantsane and Abbubaker Mobara scoring for the home side, while Pule’s brace gave Pirates fans something to cheer about.

The 28-year-old former Bidvest Wits player missed Pirates’ previous game against Baroka FC, which they drew 1-1.

Zinnbauer is content with the forward’s display.

“I am happy about Pule, he scored after not being in the team last week, he had a very good performance,” said the Bucs coach.

“As a forward he needs goals and he did the job very well. He’s always running and fighting for the squad and himself, which is what we need.”

Looking at the overall performance of his team, the German-born coach was happy with the way the team played.

He added that they did everything they could to get maximum points, but they just didn’t have fortune on their side – something they will need in their next game when they meet Bloemfontein Celtic in the MTN8 final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.

“We fought for the three points but we did not have luck on our side. I am happy with the performance but not with the result. The new players played well but we needed a little bit of luck. There is no magic here, we have to work, and they also need more time to settle into the set-up,” said Zinnbauer.

“We created enough chances to win the game. I am upset with the result. Hopefully, we will get it right next week (against Celtic),” said Zinnbauer.
