➼ Joburg branch’s 1100 lot auction spanning two days is all online.

The auction season is upon us, with Old Johannesburg Warehouse (OJW) Auctioneers having their first auction this weekend. The Johannesburg branch’s 1100 lot auction spanning two days is all online. The first part of the auction comprises the usual delightful selection of items: Fantastic Victorian and other antique furniture, Africana furniture, tantalus sets, exquisite silver including beautiful cutlery sets, ZAR gold coins, including a double shaft pond, half pond and kaal penny.

An eclectic selection of traditional and contemporary art is mixed into this session too with the likes of Casey van der Leek, Christiaan Nice and Samson Mnisi.

“Treasure hunt Sunday”, the second part of the auction, includes a trove of items that will keep auction goers busy for hours. Here you will find designer, retro and antique furniture, art, collectables, decorative arts and more. The jewellery, watches and designer handbags have been scattered over the whole auction.

Do look out for the 300 lots of Victorian, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Antique and Modern pieces that include beautiful rings, earrings, necklaces, pendants and arm candy.

Also, loose gemstones (citrines, quartz, rubies and sapphires) and beautiful loose and certified diamonds. For the watch collectors: Rolex, Omega and vintage Omega, Cartier, Breitling, Bulova, IWC and more will encourage furious bidding.

The Pretoria branch has an auction scheduled for the following weekend, 6 February. The Pretoria branch has deemed itself to be a magnet for beautiful items out of the capital – already lined up: magnificent furniture, silver, South African traditional and contemporary art, amazing jewellery and watches, carpets, ZAR coins, world coins and all sorts of bank notes, interesting classic toys, and collectibles.

A further something to look forward to – an expansion to the Cape later in the year. OJW will be on location at Estate Brahms, Paarl, with the first auction set for 6 March. –
