Bankrate’s vision is not only for the privileged employees of leading edge companies. If such towns could make for viable communities, they could become the inspiration for how villages and cities are developed in the future. And it shows science fiction visions of the future do not have to be of dystopias.
Fashion is taking a stand towards improving the carbon footprint in the world.
Founder of Sexy Socks Dave Hutchison has decided to address the daily ills and harsh realities that many South African children who live below the poverty line have to go through with parents not being able to afford school socks.
With this in mind, he created
Sexy Socks.
It is a socially-driven company determined to make a difference.
The company donates a pair of school socks for every pair of Sexy Socks sold.
They have an active sock drop, where they deliver socks to schools. This is also used as an opportunity to speak to the scholars about social entrepreneurship, detailing that business can be used as a force for good and effective change.
This gives them motivation and drive to make their surrounding community a better place and sparks an entrepreneurial spirit.
Sexy Socks are made with bamboo as the main material, making them bridgeable but also designed to keep feet cooler.
The socks also insulate feet in winter as bamboo has natural temperature control, and is breathable.
The designs are creative and uber-trendy.
Socks are available in selected outlets and online at
