Explanation needed for Du Plessis’ absence
The Titans certainly could have benefitted from his presence in CSA T20, writes Vish.
Can someone explain how Faf du Plessis was playing in the Pakistan Super League while there was a domestic T20 league competition in progress in South Africa?
Doesn’t the home competition take precedence over any other matches? He has only retired from Test cricket to the best of my knowledge.
Maybe Graeme Smith can shed some light.
I know that players from other countries must fulfil their domestic obligations unless they are released by their union.
Faf used to play for the Titans and I am sure his presence would have made a significant difference to the Titans, who didn’t even make it to the playoff stage.
There is a significant monetary benefit to playing in the PSL rather than the CSA T20 league.
